Cellphone Towers At School Increase the Risk Of Cancer and DNA damage

A new study has EMF Expert's Attention.  Share This With Your Kid's School!

The study links EMF and the potential to cause damage to the genetic material, or genotoxic biomarkers, within a cell.  This is really important Mom and Dad,  because when this happens there can be RNA and DNA damage.

Dr. Olle Johansson, PhD, Tech Wellness Expert Panel member says, "This research strikes me as particularly important as well as helpful to parents as they attempt to motivate schools to resist placing towers on or near the premises, or actually at any place in our societies, as well as ban cell phones, wireless laptops and tablets, etc., close to children, both at school, in homes, at places of leisure, and more"

Man made wireless EMF is an issue wherever it comes from, but this study looked at cellphone towers at or near schools and found the closer or more powerful the tower- the more the kids had increased micronuclei which is a marker for genotoxicity.  Olle explains this means harm to the very molecules governing the expression of our genes. "Such damage can cause cancer and/or be passed on to future generations."  

A Real World Study of a Bio Marker And How It Changed As A Cell Tower Was In Closer or More Powerful Proximity. 

I think this is an important correlation or association study-- it studied 25 children from eight different schools.  There were 8 different places with eight different cell tower situations and they measured micronuclei in 200 kids. 

The More The Exposure, The Bigger The Effect

A good correlational study has what's called a Dose Dependent Relationship, which basically means the outcome scales with how much exposure you get. And it definitely did scale.  When the cell tower was just 0 to 100 meters away, micronuclei increased 86% compared to being 300 to 400 meters away from the school. 

I've said from the get-go as I explain EMF exposure to anyone interested in knowing, that for me, EMF is just another toxin that my body has to deal with.  We've got so many toxins in our environment.  Another study looked a micronuclei and its toxic effect on our genes and looked at air pollution and kids.  It found a 151% increase in kids having the highest exposure. 

Create a Safer Environment For Your Kids!

The researchers conclude with this, "This study suggests that proximity to MPBS may be associated with higher environmental RF exposure and increased MN frequency among primary school children under real-world conditions."

Yes.  Serious stuff. 
But as usual, we'll probably hear from other research scientists, the traditional medical establishment and of course the telecom industry that this study doesn't "prove" that micronuclei increased in children when they were closer to a cell tower or the power of the cell tower was stronger.   

The researchers also point out,  "Although the observed effect sizes were modest, the findings contribute to the growing evidence base examining potential biological responses to chronic, low-level RF exposure." Modest effects?  Compared to air pollution perhaps.  Growing evidence?  Yes,  there are so many studies linking wireless cell phone exposure to oxidative stress, DNA damage and cancer.  

Does Cell Tower Exposure Cause Increased Genotoxicity Leading to DNA Damage?


Here's the catch: 
The only way to prove that cellphone towers actually caused the increase in micronuclei would be to do a true randomized control trial or a causation study which just cannot b done and here's why: 
  • It would be unethical. the Helsinki Declaration forbids medical reseach that subjects humans to a suspected poison or toxin. Thank God!   So  would randomly  assigning kids to go to a school a certain distance away from a working tower to study the toxic effect is illegal.
  • It's not feasible. You just can't mandate where families live or how long they have to stay there or how long a cell tower must continue working etc.
  • With everything manipulated it's no longer "real world" exposure. Think about it, a captive study group, a working cell tower, the metrics needing to be controlled and exact, isn't what really happens with anyone's wireless radiation exposure. 
The authors of this study, say that this study delivers an hypothesis and further study needs to take place.  Now I have to point out that every single study I have ever read notes that "more research needs to be done on the topic."  It's a standard statement. 

Olle adds, there's a need to answer if micronuclei are increasing "on their own.", but in spite of this, since we talk about parents' children, I personally find it surprising that anyone, anywhere in the world, actually dares to expose children and teenagers when they see publications like this one, as well as many similar ones! And that surprise also includes fertile men and women, thus risking their sperm cells and eggs, and their fertility.
The significance of the occurrence of increased micronuclei frequency as an indicator of genotoxicity can not be set aside, quite the opposite."

Dr. Johansson tells it like it is. There are other similar studies.  This one, from Germany's Gulati et al. looked at many markers and found that residents living near cell towers had statistically significant DNA/chromosome damage. Damage that increases cancer risk. 

And parents, don't forget that children are still growing into adults and their skull bones and tissues absorb up to 10 times more EMF radiation then us grown-ups.

Should Cell Towers Be Allowed So Close To Schools? 

This new 2026 study of cell towers at eight schools and the increased risk genotoxic biomarkers that can lead to DNA damage and cancer is one more study that you can take to your school, your teacher, the PTA or School Board. It can help them make safer decisions and rules when it comes to wireless radiation and your kids. 

I believe that schools are no place for cell towers or wireless devices.  Both are not proven to create a safe environment for our children.  704 No More, a mission of the Children's Health Defense and the National Call For Safe Technology have the same mantra and both have material that can help you communicate the health issues to your school.
