The Brief
This guide explains what QT Scan is, how it differs from traditional mammograms, what “no radiation” imaging really means, and how to think through benefits, limitations, and decision-making if you’re exploring breast screening options.
Key Takeaways
• Clarifies what QT Scan claims and how it compares to mammogram, ultrasound, and MRI.
• Discusses the “radiation-free” angle and why screening decisions should consider sensitivity, specificity, and follow-up.
• Helps readers ask better questions: who it’s for, who it’s not for, and what results may require next.
• Encourages partnering with trusted clinicians and keeping screening choices personalized and evidence-aware.
I'm one of the 35% of women who don't get a mammogram each year.
In fact, I've had only one mammogram. If you ever had one you know the pain and embarrassment of standing topless in front of a tech and she shoves you sensitive breast into the mammogram machine. The pain is one issue, but for me the main problem is the ionizing radiation that every scan exposes your body to has caused me to use other alternatives, like ultrasound.
Your doctor and the medical community with it's physicians and research scientists all acknowledge that ionizing radiation exposure can lead to the development of cancer.
If you would like to know more about EMF and breast health, read this.
Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy of the Cancer Center for Healing told me about the new OT Scan last year. She said it was a non-invasive tool that transmitted ultrasound together with reflection utltrasound to generate 3D images with accuracy and precision. No dyes, no contrast, no ionized radation and cleared by the FDA As the manufacturer says, "it's not intended to be a replacement for mammography screening" But with all that it offers, it most certainly could be. Except it's likely not covered by your health insurance, so be sure to check first.
Having the QT was easy, private and relaxing.
First of all to getting the an appointment for the scan was easy. From what I can gather, some doctors, like Dr. Connealy's Center, don't requre a referral. You call and book an appointment or visit the website.
When I arrived, the tech came to the waiting room, took me to the QT room and explained how it worked. The unit you lie on is comfortable and shaped for a woman's curves. The process involves placing each breast separately into the nice warmish water as the scanner takes hundred of photos in rapid succession. You feel nothing and The Center for Healing played nice soothing music. I could have easily drifted off to sleep.

The OT images each breast for about 20 minutes and you're done!
Within 2 weeks I received digital photos and notes from the radiologist.
Here are the current locations in the US that offer QT screening.
I'm not sure which takes insurance or how much insurance pays.

- It's Non-invasive--you lie comfortably as one breast at a
- Radiation-free
- Pain-free
- Safe for all breast types and ages
This means that QT scan breast imaging can be used more frequently without the cumulative damage that radiation-based tests may cause over time—especially important for women who require ongoing monitoring.
The Problem with Traditional Mammograms,
While mammograms have been the standard screening tool for decades, they come with several drawbacks.
- Radiation exposure, which may pose risks with repeated use
- Compression discomfort, which can be painful and deter women from scheduling exams
- Limited accuracy, especially for women with dense breast tissue
- False positives, leading to unnecessary biopsies and stress
The QTscan®It is not intended as a replacement for screening mammography.
